The event was designed to “educate landlords on recent changes to bylaws and fire safety regulations,” said Jennifer Kleven, manager of the Off-Campus Resource Centre. “It gave them the opportunity to ask quesitons.”

The presenters included representatives from McMaster University, the City of Hamilton and Hamilton Emergency Services.

The topics of discussion included changes to fire safety regulations for student housing and a rental accountability program that landlords can join voluntarily by “promising to follow the residential tenancy act and maintain their properties in good order,” said Kleven.

A summary of the discussion will be available on the Off-Campus Resource Centre's website.
