Hosted by the Healthy Workplace Group, more than 400 McMaster employees attended the event in Wentworth House, which featured information booths, draws and tours of the new McMaster Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre.

During National Healthy Workplace Week Oct. 25-29, a variety of initiatives have been planned at McMaster, including lectures on well-being, nutrition and the safety of young workers, exercise sessions like Tai Chi, cycling and core stability, a healthy cooking demonstration and a running clinic.

“The need to provide integrated health and well-being programs for employees is very important and McMaster is committed to facilitate this initiative,” says McMaster President Peter George. “Over the past several years McMaster University has made improvements in workplace health and well-being promotion.”

In addition to testing out exercise equipment in the new McMaster Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre, President George drew names for a variety of prizes. The winners include: Kathryn Hryb, cross country ski set; Tim Kupi, bike with helmet; Robert Stevens, 11 piece golf set; Gary Pinder, Heron Point golf day; Beth Aicken, one-year membership to the Pulse; Sheryl Dick, walking shoes from BioPed; Pat Kalnins, walking shoes from BioPed; Terry Curry, specialty tea gift package; Brenda Sykes, rechargeable flashlight.
