How do I achieve academic success at university? How do I meet people and make friends? How do I avoid the Freshman 15? These and other questions will be answered by IRIS, a play designed to give first-year students a glimpse into the academic and social side of university life.

Written and performed by McMaster students, IRIS, which stands for Inspiration, Reflection, Integrity and Success, uses humour and music to depict life as a McMaster student. This year, IRIS is going green with a focus on sustainability.

“McMaster University is putting more efforts than ever before into becoming a sustainable campus,” says Chris Zulinov, student coordinator at the First-Year Experience Office. “There is more to sustainability than just energy efficient light bulbs and using environmentally friendly chemicals. It requires a complete attitude shift; it's about living a healthier lifestyle and reducing our environmental footprint.”

IRIS performances will be held on Sunday, Aug. 31 and Monday, Sept. 1 in MDCL 1305/1307.
