McMaster University's Burridge Gymnasium will play host to the opening game of Canada Basketball Summer Series 2000 pre-Olympic exhibition series.

The men's and women's Olympic basketball teams will each play exhibition games at McMaster on July 14, 2000. The women's team will play Cuba at 6 p.m. The men's team will play at 8 p.m. versus Brazil. Adult tickets are $16 and student/children's tickets are $10. Tickets for groups of ten or more can be purchased for $12 for adults and $7.50 for student/children. Tickets can be purchased through the Copps Coliseum box office, or at Ticketmaster by phone (905) 645-5000 and online at http://www.ticketmaster.ca

McMaster will also be the site for the Hamilton stop on the Canada Basketball's Dribble-and-Drive-to-Sydney Tour. The tour will be at McMaster on July 14 as part of the Summer Series festivities.

A 35-ft. trailer that sets up into a 15,000-sq.-ft. basketball festival anchors the tour. While at the festival, Canadian basketball fans will be challenged to dribble a kilometre and make a donation in support of Canada Basketball's Sydney-bound national teams, with the goal being to dribble 7,159 km (or the distance from Vancouver to St. John's). At the conclusion of the tour, our two national teams will be presented with two basketballs that have been taken across the country, as they depart for Sydney.
