McMaster’s higher education seminar series will kick off Wednesday with a talk on fighting poverty.

“In Our Own Backyard: Universities and Communities Tackling Poverty Together” is the first lecture in this year’s Seminar on Higher Education: Practice, Policy, and Public Life series.

The talk will bring faculty, students, staff and community members together to discuss how post-secondary institutions can best work with the communities they are a part of in alleviating poverty.

The University of New Brunswick’s Regena Farnsworth, Carleton University’s Karen Schwartz, Wilfrid Laurier University’s Terry Mitchell and Mary MacKeigan of Opportunities Waterloo will speak at the seminar.
