McMaster University is proud to participate in the national celebration with our very own Healthy Workplace Week.

A healthy workplace isn't just about providing mandated occupational health and safety programs. It delves deeper and includes programs directed at supporting organizational health and employee health both at work and at home. The result benefits everyone in the organization.

As a leading Canadian employer, McMaster University has implemented wellness initiatives that are designed to create a Healthy Workplace for all employees across the university.

McMaster's Healthy Workplace initiatives are supported by Employee Work-Life Support Services, Human Resources Services and advised by a dedicated group of employees including faculty, managers, and staff.

The Healthy Workplace Group has recently been recognized as a forerunner in workplace health promotion by the City of Hamilton for their initiatives. For the past four years, the Group has consistently offered interactive lunch-hour information sessions, fitness series, health promotion campaigns, flu shot clinics and Healthy Pit-Stops to employees.

This year's Healthy Workplace Week runs from Monday, Oct. 23 to Friday, Oct. 27 with more than 15 events in which to participate.

The week starts off with McMaster's first ever Health Check event in which employees can learn how to improve their health with information and interactive testing provided by a variety of organizations in CIBC Hall on Monday, Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Free fitness classes and workshops on topics such as nutrition, time management and interior design are available throughout the week. Please visit the Healthy Workplace website for details and to register for events.

Everyone has the power to make a difference in their health both at work and at home. Participating in one of the week's events is a great way to get started. Come out for a little fun, a lot of helpful information and some great prizes.
