On Wednesday, McMaster will host its first ever fair dedicated entirely to employee health. Called “My Health is My Wealth,” the event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Convocation Hall, University Hall.

“The purpose of the health fair is to make lots of health information available to all employees of McMaster,” says Debra Earl, Employee Health education nurse. “We are bringing the professionals to campus so if someone is dealing with a personal health issue or has a medical concern within their family, they have direct access to the information that can help them.”

Hosted by Employee Health and Wellness and the Healthy Workplace Group, this interactive health exhibition will host several health professionals. Agencies that will be on hand to answer health questions and provide information on health, screening tests and assessments, include the Alzheimer Society of Hamilton, Community Care Access Centre, Heart and Stroke Foundation and Public Health Hamilton. There will also be door prizes to be won and free giveaways.

“I am hoping that many people have made a New Year's resolution to begin a healthier lifestyle,” says Earl. “This is the place to get motivated for change. There will be lots of take-home information and some great, healthy gifts to be won. I hope to see you at the fair.”
