Hamilton Gallery of Distinction honours local luminaries

More than 450 people attended Wednesday's gala for the Hamilton Gallery of Distinction at the Hamilton Convention Centre.

This year's inductees are Mark Chamberlain, Dan McLean, Alan McPherson, Robert Morrow, Connie Smith, and Steve Smith.

Mark Chamberlain, who currently leads Trivaris, a commercialization company focused on turning concepts into sustainable companies, located at McMaster Innovation Park, is a currently a member of McMaster University's Board of Governors.

The Gallery has honoured close to 160 individuals since it was founded in 1984.

“Induction into the Gallery is Hamilton's highest honour,” says Jane Allison, Gallery of Distinction president. “The Gallery is an amazing opportunity to mark the tremendous men and women who have made so many contributions to our city through their leadership, dedication and talent.”

Past inductees include Lincoln Alexander, Martin Short, Shirley Elford, Rabbi Bernard Baskin and the Honourable Ellen Fairclough, as well as historic figures who contributed much to Hamilton's early development.

Nominations for the Gallery of Distinction awards can be made throughout the year. Information is available through the Hamilton Public Library web site.
