McMaster's MacVIP team has successfully paid 2,700 graduate students using the new payroll system. This is the second of three conversions to be integrated into the new system. More than 3,000 employees are now being paid using MacVIP.

“The accurate and timely production of payroll is an important priority of the university,” said Lilian Scime, assistant vice-president, administration. “The end goal of the project is a fully-integrated Human Resources Information and Payroll system with employee self-service. This will enable faculty and staff to access their pay and benefit information through a self-service website.”

MacVIP provides employees more timely pay service through faster turnaround times and also offers more comprehensive information about earnings, deductions and cumulative pay details.

“Congratulations to the project team with members from Graduate Studies, Payroll, Human Resources and University Technology Services,” said Debbie Barrett, chief information officer. “The team worked hard to meet the needs of Graduate Students by consolidating tuition, scholarships and pay and prorating the total over the year. This was much more complex than anticipated but an important service to students.”

Employees will continue to be updated on the progress of this implementation and those groups still to be converted will be receiving timely communications as the project team now turns its attention to the final release planned for the first quarter of 2007.
