The challenge runs until December 31, 2005. Those who take up the challenge will receive a season's ticket for five years, permanent recognition on the stadium's donor wall, membership in the President's Club, and a charitable tax receipt for $2,750 (or $3,000 if the season's ticket is declined). All benefits are for five years beginning at the expected opening of the new stadium in 2007.

“People associated with McMaster are highly spirited committed people,” Foxcroft says. “I thought that I would challenge their competitive juices, and have some fun while raising money for the football stadium.”

The challenge has the potential to endow 66 seats and raise $200,000 towards the Campaign.

The 6,000-seat Ronald V. Joyce Stadium will be an outstanding venue for football and soccer. It will offer something for everyone from university athletes, to high school students in city and regional competitions, and eager fans ready to sit back and enjoy the game.

These facilities will be a tremendous asset for McMaster University and the regions of Hamilton and Halton, building on a fan base for university athletics that is already one of the most supportive in the country.

Foxcroft is pleased by the response to the challenge. “The reaction has been “this is great, it is like pledging and doubling my money”,” he says, “and one person said, “I will not miss the chance to spend some of Fox's money”.
