Career Services and the McMaster Alumni Association are excited to welcome Jian Ghomeshi, CBC Radio host and columnist to McMaster University on Tuesday, September 29.

The writer, activists, musician and broadcaster will present “You Are Your Own Brand: How to follow your passions and succeed in the new era (even with a big nose)”, a talk on careers and self-branding, as part of Government Career Week, running from September 28 to October 2.

The week-long event focuses on careers in the public service at all levels of government and will give students the opportunity to participate in a series of customized workshops, attend panel discussions and practice their interview skills with government officials.

The government is rated the employer of choice upon graduation by university students across Canada. An aging workforce, increased demand for university education and diverse youth employment initiatives open opportunities for students and graduates from all backgrounds and disciplines and make the government an attractive employer for many graduates.

The majority of events taking place throughout Government Career Week are free for students to attend, however, pre-registration is required for all activities. Students can register for the events using OSCAR. The keynote presentation, “You Are Your Own Brand: How to follow your passions and succeed in the new era (even with a big nose)”, is a ticketed event and open to the entire McMaster community. Students, alumni, staff, faculty and friends of McMaster are welcome to attend. Tickets are on-sale for $12 through Compass Information Centre and online .
