Gandhi remembered with bust at Mills

Photo by Matt Terry.”]University President Patrick Deane and Preeti Saran, consul general of India in Toronto,
unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi outside of the Student Centre Monday in honour of
the civil rights and Indian independence leader's birthday.

The bust will be permanently housed in Mills Memorial Library, home to a large
collection of published works by and about Gandhi. It was donated by the government
of India.

The event was part of the Gandhi Peace Festival, co-sponsored by McMaster's Centre for
Peace Studies.
