From $0 to millions – engineering entrepreneur to share experiences

[img_inline align=”right” src=”http://padnws01.mcmaster.ca/images/Chamberlain.jpg” caption=”Mark Chamberlain”]Aspiring engineering and science entrepreneurs are invited to hear Mark Chamberlain, president of Trivaris Ltd., and former CEO of Wescam, as he recounts his career as an engineering entrepreneur.

Chamberlain's talk is hosted by the School for Engineering Practice on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 5:45 p.m. in the Council Chamber, Gilmour Hall 111.

Chamberlain received PEO's Engineering Medal – Entrepreneurship in 2004. Under his leadership Wescam grew from a 17-person organization, located in Dundas, with revenue of less than $1 million in 1987, to a company with six facilities located throughout North America and revenue of $166 million technology success story and a world leader in visual information systems. Wescam also received many awards including an Academy Award for technical achievement, 16 Emmy Awards, a Canadian Business Tech 100 Award and a Canada Export Award. Chamberlain retired from Wescam in October 2003.

He holds a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in mechanical engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Chamberlain also received the University of Waterloo Engineering Alumni Medal in 1999, was awarded the Ernst & Young 2001 Ontario Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Technology and Communications category, and the 2001 National Entrepreneur of the Year Special Citation for Market Leadership.
