A tragic shooting at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia, Monday morning has left 33 people dead, including the gunman.

“Such violence and disregard for human life shakes us to our very core,” said McMaster President Peter George. “We share Virginia Tech's shock and horror at the shootings, and pray for the families and friends of the students who have been killed, and those who are injured.”

McMaster's flags have been lowered to half-mast in sympathy and respect for the victims of the shooting.
