For many students, like Bryan Vanderkruk, the return is more than welcome. The fourth year commerce student has spent the last year on co-op at IBM in Markham, Ont. and is looking forward to heading back to school.

“Working was great, but it will be nice to go back to campus and see some familiar faces,” he said. “And I'll be able to take what I learned from my co-op and apply it to my academic work. It will be a nice change.”

For others, McMaster represents a brand new chapter of life. Jess Fager, a second year honours history student, was at a U.S. school but transferred to McMaster at the end of the summer. She says she's excited to be a part of her new campus community.

“I can't wait to start getting involved and meeting new people,” said the native of nearby Waterdown, Ont. “I'm very much looking forward to starting at McMaster.

McMaster University has a student population of 23,000. It is one of four Canadian universities listed among the Top 100 universities in the world and is renowned for its innovation in both learning and discovery.
