The end is in sight for work on the new Main Street entrance. Work is slightly ahead of schedule for completion by mid-August.

The final stage involves work in two areas: the completion of work
already underway on Forsyth Avenue to the south of the MUMC parking
garage; and from July 25 to August 14 the intersection of the original University Avenue and College Crescent will be closed to permit the completion of construction.

HSR service

Effective July 25 to August 14 the following detours will be in place:

  • Bus routes: 1/1A-King and 10-Beeline: Enter campus on Sterling, south on the new University Avenue to Main Street West, west on Main Street to Cootes Drive, back onto campus via the Cootes Drive entrance, across Scholars Road and exit on Sterling.

Bus stops on these routes are in service at Sterling and Forsyth,
Sterling and University Avenue, near the Ewart Angus entrance to the
Faculty of Health Sciences/MUMC, and the south end of the new University Avenue.

  • NOTE: These routes will NOT be accessing the main entrance of the
    hospital during this timeframe.

  • Bus routes 5A/5C-Delaware: Enter campus on Sterling, south on University Avenue, continue south through the new Main/Emerson intersection, to Whitney to Main Street West/Ancaster area, and return.
  • Full details of all HSR detours and bus stop information are available on the project website: http://fhs.mcmaster.ca/mainstreet/ or flyers are available at the Compass Desk in the Student Centre or from the ACT Office.

Regular routing of HSR buses will resume on August 15. Maps and details will be communicated closer to that time.
