Farmstand celebrates five years of flavour

McMaster’s Farmstand will open for its fifth season Wednesday.

The student-run farmer’s market, which sells fresh produce, bread, preserves and more, will celebrate the occasion with festivities in the Student Centre starting at noon.

The Farmstand carries more than 75 kinds of food over the course of the season, and has sold more than 8,000 pounds of produce since it opened in 2010.

It’s open every Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. from June to October.

Farmstand staff hope to hold four events during that time, including a local food festival on October 5.

Customers will also be able to use meal, debit and credit cards at the Farmstand this year.
