Fall convocation: Five things to know

McMaster’s fall convocation will be held on November 25 and 26, 2021. We’re looking forward to celebrating the hard work, accomplishments and resilience of fall 2021 graduates.

Degrees will be conferred later this month and fall convocation ceremonies will also recognize award winners and honorary degree recipients.

Here are five things to know about fall convocation.

1.CONVOCATION CEREMONIES WILL BE VIRTUAL

Join the virtual convocation ceremony celebrating McMaster’s Fall 2021 graduating students, honorary doctorate recipients and award winners:

Faculty Convocation date
Business, Humanities, Social Sciences, Arts & Science Thursday, November 25 at 9:30 a.m.
Health Sciences (including Nursing) Thursday, November 25 at 2:30 p.m.
Engineering & Science Friday, November 26 at 9:30 a.m.

No registration is required. The virtual ceremonies above will be livestreamed on the Office of the Registrar website. The video will remain accessible for viewing on our convocation website. You can also watch the ceremony on the McMaster Youtube channel.

2. THERE WILL BE SMALLER IN-PERSON EVENTS FOR FALL 2021 GRADS

Convocation ceremonies are all virtual for fall 2021, however McMaster is offering smaller in-person events for fall 2021 graduands to connect at drop-in celebrations.

Information about these opportunities will be sent directly to fall 2021 graduates via your McMaster email address, so please be sure to monitor for updates. More details available on the Office of the Registrar website.

3. DIGITAL OR PARCHMENT DIPLOMAS ARE AVAILABLE 

Graduates have the option to access a digital diploma or a parchment (printed) diploma. Steps for either option available here.

4. GRAD PHOTO APPOINTMENTS CAN BE BOOKED ONLINE

The Lifetouch Graduation Photo studio is located in the McMaster University Student Centre (MUSC). Book your appointment online through their website.

5. YOU CAN SHARE A CONGRATULATORY VIDEO/MESSAGE FOR THE CLASS OF 2021

Convocation is a time of celebration for your families, friends, instructors and supporters. All grads, loved ones and members of the McMaster community can post a congratulatory video or message for the Class of 2021. Share your message here.
