On Thursday, students will have an opportunity to connect with more than 70 employers from a wide range of industries at the Fall Career Fair.

The free event is being held in the David Braley Athletic Centre from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Employers planning to attend include Chrysler Canada, Target, CIBC, AC Nielsen, Microsoft, Gerdau, Atomic Energy, Hatch Mott MacDonald and more.

“Our annual career fair is one of the best opportunities for job seekers to connect with employers and get jobs,” said Gisela Oliveira, manager of employment services at the Student Success Centre. “It’s also the kick off to our on-campus recruitment program, which connects job-ready final-year students with employers interested in McMaster’s impressive talent pool.”

Besides meeting representatives from various industries — including technology, manufacturing, engineering, construction, financial services and consumer goods — students can register for a networking breakfast in Celebration Hall prior to the Career Fair.

From 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., students can enjoy a light breakfast while they obtain industry information, resume advice and networking tips. Employers attending the networking breakfast include Sun Life Financial, Rogers Communications, Desire2Learn, Stryker Canada, College Pro Painters and Kognitive Marketing Inc.

Four employers will also be on hand to critique students’ resumes. They include Conexsys Communications Ltd., Husky Injection Molding Systems, Desire2Learn Inc. and College Pro Painters.

Imperial Oil and Stryker Canada have sponsored the Career Fair, which attracts up to 2,000 students. Those interested in participating should dress in business casual clothing and bring an updated resume. Students interested in exploring what it means to be “job-ready” can register for a Student Success Centre career clinic.
