Investors wonder about the optimum compositions of their portfolios while considering which steps they should be taking to limit risk and maximize return.

Now, McMaster faculty have a chance to learn from one of Canada's pre-eminent investment executives and a mutual fund pioneer, Michael Lee-Chin, Executive Chairman of AIC. Lee-Chin will be on campus January 28 to host the 2009 Investor Summit for faculty members, joined by AIC Chief Executive Officer and McMaster alumnus, Jonathan Wellum.

Both men will discuss best practices for investing, explaining both the risks and the benefits during the current economic climate.

Lee-Chin will provide insight into establishing a sound framework for investment decisions during turbulent times. Wellum will identify North America's leading investment managers who follow a value investment methodology and will discuss current opportunities for investors in certain sectors.

“In an uncertain market, access to knowledge and information is very important,” says Paul Bates, dean of the DeGroote School of Business. “Having Michael and Jonathan on campus to provide their insights and knowledge is of great value for our faculty members.”

The 2009 Investor Summit takes place on Wednesday, January 28 at the University Club, with registration at 6 p.m. and keynote speakers at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner.
