Faculty honours dynamic librarian

Bayley, head of systems & curriculum integration in the Health Sciences Library, was recognized Thursday by the McMaster University Faculty Association (MUFA).
“Liz is a dynamic librarian, who brings her enthusiasm, exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, a sense of humour and considerable expertise in the field of information technology to the many and varied projects that she tackles,” said Ken Cruikshank on behalf of the selection committee for the MUFA Faculty/Librarian Awards for Outstanding Service. “She has played a leading role at McMaster in the development and implementation of online, user-friendly electronic systems and resources. She works with undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and clinicians in the Health Sciences to promote evidence-based practice and lifelong learning.”
Known locally, provincially and nationally for her organizational work, Bayley has organized the library component of the Collaborative Nursing Project between McMaster and Mohawk, and negotiated for academic librarians to join the McMaster University
Faculty Association. She served on the executive of the Canadian Health Libraries Association, including as president, and has played an active role in the Consortium of Ontario Academic Health Libraries, the Northern Academic Health Sciences Network, and the Task Force for a National Network of Libraries for Health.
Bayley was presented the $1,500 award Thursday at MUFA's annual general meeting.
The award honours faculty and professional librarians who have made an outstanding contribution to the University through the provision of exceptional service to faculty, librarians, staff, students or alumni. The full terms of reference for the award is on the MUFA Web site.
