“Convenience is certainly the big selling point with our online training,” said Chris Hurley, safety officer. “We are always looking for new and innovative ways to make safety training easier to access. Leveraging our current technological capabilities helps us promote the many health and safety initiatives across the full spectrum of the McMaster community.”

Courses are available on a variety of topics, including chemical handling, due diligence and ergonomics.

Although attending safety courses in person is the best way to learn, the new website enables staff to receive training online at their convenience.

Several sessions have voice-over commentary and can be viewed with streaming video while others consist of PowerPoint slides from in-class sessions. Regardless of the delivery method, it's important for users to understand the content and complete the necessary documentation.

All online training sessions have an associated test record, which must be completed by the individual participating in the training. This test record is the documented evidence of participation in the session.
