That decision would not only have a dramatic impact on their lives, but would play a significant role in the success of McMaster for years to come. In 1981, it is unlikely these individuals were thinking ahead to the Quarter Century Club Banquet.
On December 6, 2006, President Peter George welcomed these employees into the Quarter Century Club at a reception and dinner held at CIBC Hall.
“As I look at the achievements of the past quarter century, I hope that you all share my enthusiasm and pride in McMaster's success,” said President George. “We represent McMaster University to our community and, indeed, to the world at large in the way we do our jobs and in how we treat one another. I hope that McMaster has been as good a friend to you as you have been to it, and I hope the friendship continues to flourish.”
Among beautiful and festive surroundings, heartfelt words were spoken about each of the recipients and their unique contributions to the University over the past 25 years.
From leading-edge research and teaching to dedicated skilled trades people; from the provision of quality administrative support to friendly hospitality services employees, each recipient was praised for their commitment to excellence.
This year's inductees represent 2,200 years of accumulated wisdom, knowledge and experience. It is ironic to think that most of the undergraduate student population was not even born when this special group of people joined McMaster, and these same students now receive the benefits that are part of the 2006 Quarter Century Club inductees.
