Early music ensemble Sine Nomine to perform at McMaster

Early music ensemble Sine Nomine is coming to McMaster to perform as part of the University's Celebrity Concerts on Nov. 5 at 8 p.m. in Convocation Hall located on the second floor of University Hall.
The famous Canadian ensemble will perform a program of early vocal and instrumental music of Europe from the tenth to the fifteenth century.
Founded in 1991, Sine Nomine has performed extensively in Canada, the United States, and Britain in concert halls, historic churches, art galleries, and museums. Members of the group are part of the ongoing Alpharabius project with George Sawa and Suzanne Meyers-Sawa, which explores the ambiguous relationship of Medieval European music with Arabic traditional music.
Sine Nomine has made two recordings: Gaudeamus omnes: Medieval Music of the Saints (independent cassette, 1994), and A Golden Treasury of Mediaeval Music (Saydisc/AmonRa Records, UK, 1996). The group also provided music of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and early Baroque for the CDROM designed to complement the BBS/PBSTV series Inside the Vatican, with Sir Peter Ustinov.
Some of the most beautiful music ever written comes from the Middle Ages making this concert a golden opportunity to hear this rarely performed music.
