Senior co-captains of the Marauders basketball team Doug Doyle and Steve Maga will return to finish out their Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union careers as members of the Maroon and Grey next season.

After graduating from the kinesiology program this past spring, Maga will return to McMaster this fall to pursue a master's degree in business administration. Doyle, who graduated this spring from the economics program, will return to complete a second degree in geography.

With their return, the Marauders will continue to have one of the best back court combinations in the country. Maga was a Second Team All-Canadian this past season and won the Ken Shields TSN Award for best combining athletics, academics and community service. He is one of the premier point guards in the CIAU and is always a threat from the three-point range.

Doyle was named sn OUA West First Team All-Star in 2000 and was one of the league's top scorers. He finished fifth in the CIAU in scoring with an average of 20.6 points per game, and was first in the CIAU in three-point percentage with 55 per cent. Both were named co-MVPs of last year's team.

The Marauder basketball team will also have five fresh new faces next season. Coach Joe Raso has recruited a talented group of first-year players who could potentially have an immediate impact on this season's lineup.

Headlining the rookie list are Windsor's Adam Guiney, Sarnia's Steve Martin, Scarborough's Jonathon Joseph, Burlington's Sean Gligor, and Hamilton's Paul Lowe. Each player brings versatility and an abundance of athletic ability to the 2001 team.
