Having purchased new, high-quality dishware, MACgreen provides dishes and utensils, along with biodegradable soap, for campus groups to use for their special events and activities. Groups that borrow the “Dish It Out” set are expected to clean up after themselves, but are provided the dishes free of charge.

“If you think about all of the events that are held on campus, and all of the disposable waste that is created, it's unbelievable,” says Cookie Pais, MACgreen Waste Reduction Co-ordinator. “The “Dish It Out” program helps to reduce waste and saves campus groups money that they can then put to better use. It's a win-win situation.”

The program has already attracted a great deal of attention on campus, and the Student Representative Assembly is interested in using the wares for all of their meetings. Currently, MACgreen is working on promoting “Dish It Out” to ensure that all groups that hold activities on campus know about the program, and understand its implications for greening the McMaster campus.
