Hundreds of current and aspiring young leaders from across campus are expected to attend the McMaster Student Leadership Conference on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This year’s event is focused on how caring and the willingness to act catalyzes change in the community.

“The conference inspires students to let their passions guide the way they want to demonstrate leadership and gives them the skills and ideas to start making change,” says Jeremy Sandor, manager of student development at the Student Success Centre (SSC).

This year’s keynote speakers are Carys Massarella, an emergency physician at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and Jaxson Khan, one of Canada’s Top 20 Under 20 young leaders.

Massarella will discuss the experiences of trans-identified individuals in the Canadian health care system and Khan will share his student leadership experiences and talk about how students can challenge themselves to take leadership to the next level.

In addition to workshops on social media, supervision, team dynamics, budgeting, environmental stewardship and the Learning Portfolio, students can attend the leadership fair, participate in graffiti boards or take part in a case study competition.
