Hamilton's economy will be the focus of discussion as community leaders gather for the second Hamilton Economic Summit being held today (Wednesday)at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Hamilton.

McMaster is a founding partner of the Summit which is designed to advance the city's economy and find ways to capitalize on its many strengths so that Hamilton can achieve its goals to be the best city in the country to raise a child, promote innovation, engage citizens and provide diverse economic opportunities.

University President Peter George is the Summit co-chair. “Hamilton is in transition. Traditional industries are being transformed and new industries need to be nurtured and developed as we evolve into a knowledge-based economy. There's nothing more important for Hamilton than its economic development and McMaster is proud to be a key driver of that transformation.”

This year's Summit includes a free community day, May 7, aimed at students and young professionals. The venue- McMaster Innovation Park- is a symbol of Hamilton's changing economy.

The Hamilton Economic Summit is an arm's length initiative of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce delivered in partnership with the City of Hamilton and the Jobs Prosperity Collaborative.
