Changes to McMaster COVID-19 case reporting

Since March 2020, McMaster has reported individual COVID-19 cases on the Back to Mac and Daily News websites. To align with how Hamilton Public Health and the Province of Ontario report cases, the university is adjusting how COVID cases are posted to our website.

Effective Monday, December 20, 2021, COVID-19 cases reported to the university will be updated on this web page, from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

This change means that the number of COVID-19 cases at McMaster will be updated on the case tracker but will no longer include buildings related to each case.

McMaster will continue with its comprehensive case reporting protocols in partnership with Public Health. For any positive case reported, Public Health is responsible for contact tracing and will directly contact any individuals they need to reach.

In the event of an outbreak, McMaster would be alerted by Public Health and would share this information with the community outside of the case number updates.
