Chancellor Santee Smith featured on episode of CBC Arts: Exhibitionists

McMaster Chancellor Santee Smith’s work as a choreographer, artist and dancer has been featured on an episode of CBC Arts: Exhibitionists, an anthology of short arts documentaries streaming on CBC Gem.

In the film, Smith reflects on her work and her identity as an artist.

“Even to this very day, I have that question of, ‘Am I Santee the artist or am I a Mohawk artist?'” she says. “How does society see my work and frame me?”

She also performs an excerpt from her first original choreographed work, Kaha:wi, dancing outdoors at Six Nations of the Grand River, where she grew up.
