CFL drafts three Marauders

Jason Pottinger was drafted second overall by the BC Lions. Pottinger was a First Team All-Canadian in 2005 and 2006. He was also the winner of the OUA President's Trophy as the standup defensive player of the year for the last two seasons. The fourth-year Linebacker led the Marauder defense in 2005 with 38 tackles overall, including 31 solo and 14 assisted.
Tristan Clovis was drafted in the third round (#5 pick) by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The fifth-year linebacker was a 2003 All-Canadian
and 2-Time OUA All-Star at the SAM Linebacker Position.
Peter Hogarth was selected in the fourth round (#4 Pick) by Saskatchewan. Hogarth, a 6'4, 300 lb Offensive Lineman (fourth-year) is an extremely intelligent player, who proved at the combines
to be one of the strongest and most agile linemen in Canada.
With three draftees, McMaster tied the University of Laval in having the most players selected in the 2006 CFL Draft.
Last year, McMaster had four players selected in the CFL Draft Matt O'Meara – third overall; Jesse Lumsden – sixth overall; Fabio Filice – second round, fifteenth overall, Michael Ray – fourth round, thirty-third overall.
McMaster currently has eight players in the CFL (Mike Morreale,
Kojo Aidoo, Ryan Donnelly, Fabio Filice and Ray Mariuz – Hamilton
Tiger-Cats; Matt O'Meara – Saskatchewan Roughriders; Mike Botterill,
Chris Vrantsis – Montreal Alouettes). McMaster's Jesse Lumsden was
acquired by the NFL Washington Redskins as an unrestricted free agent.
