Cell phone users on the Rogers wireless network should soon see an improvement in
service thanks to a joint initiative between the company, University Technology Services
(UTS) and McMaster Purchasing Resources.

Rogers has begun installation of a new cell tower on campus, located on the roof of
Togo Salmon Hall.

The work is in response to recent issues for those placing phone calls, sending or
receiving emails and using BlackBerry Messenger on the Rogers network, which has
been sluggish due to the increased number of users on campus.

“We had a great deal of feedback from cell phone users on campus,” said Julia Kraveca,
manager of client services for UTS. “We're happy to be able to partner with Rogers to
accommodate the influx of users and improve network service at the University”.

Installation of the tower will be complete Wednesday, September 28.
