A celebration of the life of former Chair of the Board of Governors Edward Wallace
Buffett will take place March 10 in Whitby, Ont.

A friend of the University for many years, Buffett passed away suddenly on March 5. He
was in his 68th year.

Known for his work with a number of not-for-profit boards, Buffett was involved with
the Whitby General Hospital, the Ajax-Whitby Heart and Stroke Foundation, the
Oshawa-Whitby United Way Campaign and the Durham Community Foundation, in
addition to serving as Chair of the University's Board of Governors from 2004 to 2005.
He was also a supporter of McMaster Athletics & Recreation.

In 2006, McMaster conferred upon Buffett an honorary doctor of laws degree for his
groundbreaking work in worksite wellness.

The celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. at Tosca Banquet and Conference Centre
in Whitby.
