The McMaster community has a new option for sustainable transportation, and it's
located right on campus.

Hamilton CarShare, the non-profit car-sharing cooperative, has located it fourth car at
McMaster University.

The program works by allowing its members access to a fleet of vehicles as needed.
Cars are located at 170 Dundurn Street South at the First Unitarian Church, and in City
of Hamilton lots at 451 King Street West, near Locke Street, and at 191 King Street West,
at Bay Street. The McMaster CarShare vehicle, a 2008 Toyota Yaris, is located in Parking
Lot E, at the corner of Stearn Drive and Michell Crescent.

Members can book the cars online or by phone, for as little as thirty minutes or as long
as needed. Gas and maintenance costs are included in driving rates.

“Having a CarShare vehicle right on campus means those at and around McMaster have
easy access to transportation when they need it,” said Kate Whalen, manager of
McMaster's Office of Sustainability. “It makes it that much easier to leave your car at
home.”

Hamilton CarShare has another parking location reserved near campus at Grace
Lutheran Church and will activate the location as membership and vehicle demand
grows.
