On Monday, students will have an opportunity to meet with prospective employers at the annual Career Fair, organized by Career Services. More than 72 employers are registered to attend, ranging from GE Canada, General Motors, Research in Motion, Christian Horizons, TD Bank Financial Group, Ecolab, AstraZeneca and Dofasco. “Students will get an opportunity to develop relationships with employers, hear about full-time, part-time, internship and summer job opportunities within a wide variety of organizations, build skills in networking and presenting themselves to employers and much more,” says Kate Toth, events & marketing co-ordinator with Career Services.

Career Services has put together tips for students on how to best prepare for their meetings with prospective employers.

Career Fair will be held on Monday, September 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Ivor Wynne Centre, Burridge Gym. Current McMaster student ID will be checked at the door.

“The fair will provide an opportunity to gather information about the various employers who hire McMaster University students, a chance to research a company you may be interested in working for when you graduate and a forum to talk with employers about their career paths,” says Toth. She adds it also provides a venue to learn to network and make contacts, and find out about co-ops, internships, summer and career positions. “For first- or second-year students, they begin to build relationships with a variety of employers. These relationships will enable you to have a head start when looking for employment upon graduation.”
