As part of the annual assessment and repair of parking lots, roadways and sidewalks, a number of construction projects start today that will affect many parts of campus.
College Crescent near the southwest corner of Arthur Bourns Building and Cootes Drive: There will be significant reconstruction to improve pedestrian safety and better regulate traffic. The wide radius turn will be removed and the roadway rebuilt to an 'L' shape.
Damaged walkways behind University Hall and the Faculty Club will be replaced with three-metre wide concrete sidewalks. Access to the University Club during construction will be through the east entrance.
As part of the Parking Automation Project, parking zones 3NX, 4, 6 and 7 will begin to see the installation of parking gates. Construction also includes new islands to the entrances of these lots and trenching for wiring.
