community about bicycle laws and road safety.

Sergeant Sabrina Feser, central crime manager for West Town, said the project focuses
on both enforcement and education and centres on Sterling and Emerson Streets.

“We're not out to get people, but we do want to raise awareness and instill bicycle safety
in both permanent residents and students,” she said.

Feser said cyclists failing to stop at stop signs and riding on sidewalks are among the
most common complaints she receives.

Her tips for those taking two-wheeled transit include wearing a helmet, using a bell
and, when riding at night, using a light.
