Break down walls and win a trip to Berlin

Falling Walls 2014

Postdoctoral fellow Erin Westman presents her Falling Walls presentation at last year's McMaster event. Westman represented the University at the international competition in November, 2014.

Calling all graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and young faculty — it’s time to share your groundbreaking ideas and innovations.

The second annual Falling Walls Lab at McMaster is where young scientists and professionals will pitch their innovative research, initiatives and business ideas, for the chance to represent the University at the International Falling Walls Lab in Berlin, Germany.

The challenge? Participants have just three minutes and two presentation slides to tell a panel of judges what their idea is, how it works and what it can be used for.

This year, young faculty members will be eligible to participate, joining current and recent graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from across all disciplines for the chance to win travel and accommodation to the International Falling Walls Lab and Conference in Berlin, Nov. 8-9.

The top three winners will also receive cash prizes — $1,000 for first place, $500 for second and $250 for third.

To qualify as a presenter, competitors must be aged 35 or younger. As many as 15 McMaster applicants will be invited to compete in the University event.

Apply online now to compete in the Falling Walls Lab McMaster. The competition will take palce Thursday, Aug. 6 from 3-5 p.m. in CIBC Hall.

The deadline to apply for the McMaster Lab is July 6.
