Brandon Hall Fire – Parent Update for October 27

default-hero-image

It was nice to meet so many of you during the hotel move-in on Sunday. Students are staying at a total of six hotels and we have been able to keep many roommates and floors together which we hope will help students feel comfortable and settle into their new homes more quickly.

We collected forms from students on Sunday who had any concerns about their accommodation. All of these are being reviewed and the students will be contacted.

Students who have specific questions about their hotel room can contact the Commons Help Desk at ext.27222.

Students who have specific questions about housing options (ie. changing from one option to another) should email resadmissions@mcmaster.ca

The first payment of the commuter allowance will be available this week. All Brandon residents who are living off campus are entitled to receive the commuter allowance from October 18th until their space in residence is available (excluding the time from the end of first term exams through the beginning of second-term classes).

Students will be contacted directly by email with details about how to pick up the allowance. They do not need to keep their receipts to receive the commuter allowance.

Information on collecting items from the Frid Street warehouse is available in the latest Daily News update.

The new lounge for Brandon Hall students will be available on Tuesday. This space which includes computers, printers, televisions, a kitchenette, couches and areas for students to gather is open to all Brandon Hall students whether they are currently living in hotels, on campus or have found other accommodation away from campus.

The days since the fire have been very busy, especially for Brandon Hall residents and their families. We appreciate your patience and understanding and we'll continue to provide daily updates as the week progresses.

Thank you
