Area youth arrive for summer camps

Campers take a break from skateboarding near Ron Joyce Stadium. Thousands of area youth will visit campus this summer for camps that range from sports and fitness to science and engineering.
Some of the more than 4,000 area youth who will attend summer camps at McMaster arrived on campus Tuesday.
Camp themes range from fitness, leadership and sports to science, engineering and business, among others.
Kinesiology alumna Lily Lumsden’s son is enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering’s Venture Camp, which focuses on engineering, science, computers and technology.
She says Ian, 10, is “having the time of his life!”

This summer also marks the first for the Big Ideas: Creativity, Design and Innovation camp. Offered to youth aged 10-13, Big Ideas challenges campers to develop solutions to real-world problems and explores the potential for entrepreneurship.
