The gift allows for the continued delivery of market data to the School's Allen H. Gould Trading Floor.
“The DeGroote School of Business is privileged to receive such a generous gift from an outstanding member of our community and longtime business leader,” says Paul Bates, dean, DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University.
“With his philanthropy, Russ Boychuk shows his commitment to putting students first,” says Peter George, President and Vice-Chancellor, McMaster University.
“I am delighted to be able to provide this gift to McMaster University and the Allen H. Gould Trading Floor at the DeGroote School of Business,” says Boychuk. “The Trading Floor provides students with core training and experience that gives them a step up as they begin their careers in capital markets. I am also pleased to support the DeGroote School of Business, with its emphasis on teaching corporate responsibility and good governance.”
Boychuk is the president and owner of Upper Canada Securities Inc., and Chairman and C.E.O. of the All-Canadian Group of Funds, both based in Ancaster. He attended McMaster University in the 1970s, prior to beginning his career as a trader and executive. His firm was the second largest private shareholder of the Toronto Stock Exchange, after Canada's six major banks, when the TSX went public in 2002.
Boychuk's gift ensures continued delivery of the real-time Reuters data to the Allen H. Gould Trading Floor. The data allows students to track market activity from a variety of North American exchanges, and to participate in learning about market activity and influences.
The Allen H. Gould Trading Floor is McMaster's unique interactive, experiential classroom, where students learn the fundamentals of the capital markets.
It is comprised of 21 state-of-the-art Reuters stations, two Pro-Quad Bloomberg terminals and two Trans-Lux boards delivering real-time data feeds from all North American exchanges.
