Alumni Weekend begins at McMaster

McMaster will host its annual Alumni Weekend from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5.
The four-day event will begin with the recognition of accomplished alumni at the
Alumni Gallery Induction and McMaster Alumni Association (MAA) Awards Dinner
Thursday night. Highlights of the weekend include the McMaster Military Service
Reunion and anniversary receptions for alumni classes.
On Saturday, President Patrick Deane and MAA President David Adames will host
brunch, Deane's first as McMaster's President. Receptions for the classes of 1941, 1946,
1951, 1956, 1961 and 1966 will also be held. The informal Half Century reunion for
graduates who have celebrated their 50th anniversary but don't want to wait until their
next reunion to return to McMaster will mark its sixth anniversary.
Alumni are invited to take a trip down memory lane on a golf cart tour of campus as a
tribute to the 60th anniversary of Mills Memorial Library. The Alumni Association will
hold its annual general meeting and the afternoon will end with a dessert party, an
annual favourite, hosted by Deane.
“We're really looking forward to seeing everyone who will be returning to campus this
weekend,” said Karen McQuigge, director of Alumni Advancement. “Alumni Weekend is
always a great opportunity for members of the McMasters family to return home and
reconnect with each other and the University.”
McMaster University boasts more than 145,000 alumni in 129 countries.
