Alumni to hit the courts for Marauder Weekend

[img_inline align=”right” src=”http://padnws01.mcmaster.ca/images/marauderweekend.gif” caption=”Marauder Weekend logo”]Alumni will sweat out sweet memories on McMaster's courts during the annual Marauder Weekend Feb. 5-6.
The memories begin Saturday in the Burridge Gymnasium. The first alumni match involves a women's basketball game at 10 a.m. followed by a men's match at 11 a.m. The games will be followed by a Marauders alumni luncheon at 11:30 a.m. in the mezzanine. A recruiting tour and lunch will take place Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Ivor Wynne Centre.
On Sunday, there will be a women's soccer alumni match at 10 a.m., followed by a men's soccer alumni match at 11 a.m. Both games will be played in the Burridge Gymnasium. A soccer alumni reception will be held in the mezzanine following the games.
McMaster alumni also will participate in the second annual Hawkrigg Cup on Saturday. This winter flag football tournament will take place on the Les Prince Field, on McMaster's campus. Team entry fees are $75 or you can register as an individual for $10. The tournament fee includes a gift, food, and a guaranteed minimum of two games. There will be complimentary children's programming from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Child-care and activities for children 4-12 years old will take place in the Combatives Gym. Register in the IWC Hall of Fame lobby. Children will be supervised by qualified university students.
Current Marauder teams will also hit the courts this weekend. On Saturday, the women's basketball team will face The University of Western Ontario (UWO) at 1 p.m. followed by a men's basketball game against UWO at 3 p.m. The women's volleyball team will hit the court at 6 p.m., followed by the men's team at 8 p.m. Both teams will play against the University of Toronto. All games are in the Burridge Gym.
During each half-time, McMaster Athletics & Recreation will recognize part-time coaches, trainers, and behind-the-scene contributors during the Friends of Distinction presentations. Individuals will be honoured for their tireless dedication to sport, University student-athletes and the pursuit of excellence.
The Marauders fencing team will compete in the OUA West qualifier on Sunday at 8 a.m. in Smith Gym.
