The Mohawk College Continuing Education student and McMaster alumni officer won second place in the competition's royal wedding theme category.

Six students from Mohawk's Floral Techniques Certificate Program took part in the all-day competition at the Ontario Flower Growers Cooperative distribution centre in Mississauga. Students also competed in a bridal floral arrangement category.

Iwona had two hours to create her arrangement and go head-to-head with 11 other students from four colleges. A panel of three judges awarded Centurami's creation an overall score of 92 per cent.

Students in Mohawk's Floral Techniques Certificate Program explore the principles and practices of floral design including form, technique, composition, colour, plant identification, care and handling. Students receive a certificate after completing six courses.
