Engineers. Librarians. International aid workers. McMaster alumni
perform thousands of
interesting jobs all over the world. With the McMaster Alumni
Gallery's induction
ceremony scheduled for Thursday night, alumni doing some of the
world's most
fascinating work will be recognized for their many accomplishments.

The McMaster Alumni Association's highest honour, the Alumni
Gallery honours
McMaster graduates who have led accomplished lives and set high
standards of
achievement for the University's current students, alumni and the
greater community.

Past inductees include Toronto Maple Leafs forward Syl Apps,
comedian and actor
Eugene Levy and founder of the Canadian chapter of War Child Samantha
Nutt.

“The Alumni Gallery's chief criteria is that its members be
interesting people,” said
Karen McQuigge, director of Alumni Advancement. “So we have everything
from Nobel
laureates to sideline mascots in our alumni 'hall of fame'.”

University President Patrick Deane will also be granted honorary membership in the
Alumni Association. Membership is granted in recognition of outstanding contributions
and an indelible connection to the Association or University.

Meet this year's Alumni Gallery inductees:

Walter Booth, one of the
first leaders of the
McMaster Engineering
Society
and current chairman and CEO of the Timberland Group of Companies.

Stephen Elop, engineer,
businessman and CEO
and president of
Nokia
Corporation.

Michael Hayes,
researcher, professor,
administrator, leader and
director
of health research and education at the University of Victoria.

Ken Roberts, author,
teacher and chief
librarian of the Hamilton
Public
Library.

Dan Stepaniuk,
teacher, soldier and vice-
principal at Ancaster
High and

The Alumni Gallery induction and McMaster Alumni Association awards
ceremony will
take place Thursday night at 6 p.m. in Convocation Hall.
