Entitled Power and Purpose: Professional Development for Your Future, the one-day event featured a variety of speakers who discussed topics ranging from developing leadership skills to work/life balance.

Capitalizing on the success of the Women's Personal and Professional Development Series, the Office of Alumni Advancement decided to offer a similar event to all alumni.

“It was very successful,” said Christine Kennedy, alumni officer (domestic outreach), and organizer of the event. “We received a lot of positive feedback.”

In addition to sessions on leadership, communication and personal marketing led by McMaster faculty and guest speakers, the professional development day gave alumni the opportunity to network with other grads.

About 75 alumni attended the event, representing a wide range of age groups and professions.

“It was a diverse audience,” said Kennedy. “We had everyone from business to engineering and social sciences to humanities.”

She added that the Office of Alumni Advancement is looking forward to hosting next year's professional development day for alumni as well as continuing its popular women's series.

“These events help alumni focus on their personal and professional development,” said Kennedy. “They learn how to become the best people they can possibly be.”
