Alumni athletes welcomed back to McMaster

McMaster's student-athlete alumni will be welcomed back on campus this weekend to take part in the annual Marauder Weekend activities.

This year's events include varsity action with the women and men's basketball and volleyball games played against the University of Windsor teams on Saturday. As well, there are alumni basketball games on Saturday and alumni soccer games with a soccer reception on Sunday.

The 2006 Friends of Distinction awards will be presented at halftime during the men's basketball game in Burridge Gym. The awards are given by McMaster Athletics and Recreation to part-time coaches, trainers, and behind and on-the-scene contributors to recognize their dedication to sport, University athletics and the pursuit of excellence.

Award winners this year are: Stacey Henderson, Paul Hatala, Mark Brooks, Jason Riley, Kelly Kawamoto and Dr. Janice Harvey. Click here to read more about these outstanding contributors to athletics and recreation success at McMaster.

The third annual flag football Hawkrigg Cup tournament, named in honor of Chancellor Mel Hawkrigg, takes place on the Back 10 Field on Saturday. As well, an ultimate frisbee tournament takes place on the Back 10 Field.

Complimentary childcare and activities are available in Rose Hill Studio on Saturday for children ages four to 12. Children will supervised by qualified students with registration available in the Ivor Wynne Centre Hall of Fame lobby.
