Harris will hold the position until a successor has been found for former McMaster Registrar Lou Ariano, who has been appointed Registrar at Aga Khan University in Pakistan.
Harris has more than 30 years of experience in the Registrar's Office, managing the University's central recruitment program and the High School Liaison Team and playing a significant role in attracting the thousands of quality undergraduate students who have made McMaster their university of choice.
“I am delighted that Pat is willing to take on the role of Acting Registrar, especially at such a critical time for recruitment, admissions and examinations,” says Ilene Busch-Vishniac, Provost. “I know she will be an effective leader and we anticipate a seamless transition until the new University Registrar is appointed.”
Senate also approved a Selection Committee that will begin the search for a new University Registrar.
The University Registrar reports to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), with a mandate to support the University's educational mission by providing high-quality services to the entire University community: students, professors, administrators, graduates and the general public.
