Bob McNutt will assume the position as of July 1 for a six-month term. His appointment has been approved by Senate executive and is subject to approval by the Board.
McNutt is no stranger to McMaster. He was a faculty member at McMaster for 30 years and was a respected dean of the Faculty of Science before going to the University of Toronto at Mississauga where he was principal for seven years. Most recently McNutt has been the acting chair of Modern Languages and Linguistics at McMaster and has been an advisor on the development of McMaster's campus in Burlington.
“Bob brings a unique blend of experience and perspective to the role,” says provost, Ken Norrie. “I couldn't be more confident in his appointment and his ability to guide the Faculty while we carry out our search for a new dean. I would also like to thank the many chairs, directors and others in the faculty who provided valuable input and advice during this process.”
Dean Nasrin Rahimieh leaves McMaster at the end of June to become the Maseeh endowed chair and founding director of the newly created Samuel M. Jordan Centre for Persian Studies and Culture at the University of California, Irvine.
