The term “jihad” gets thrown around an awful lot, especially in the wake of terror attacks like those which took place in Paris, Beirut, Baghdad and Bamako, Mali recently.
But Liyakat Takim says it’s a horribly misunderstood concept.
The Sharjah Chair in Global Islam says the Muslim idea of “jihad” has nothing to do with “holy war,” as is so often implied in media reports.
